I wish I had it together but then again Im only 20.
So let's all be for real, at 20 years old in this day and age it is almost impossible to have your whole life set. As a child of immigrants they're always saying, when I was your age I moved to a whole different country and made a life for myself and all of that jazz. I'm pretty sure everyone has heard this tangent once, but when you truly analyze this statement, they got here around the 80's-90's and in those decades you didn't need as many credentials or pre requisites as you need nowadays. Today you need ATLEAST a bachelors degree and a few certificates. And I know this sounds like complaining but Im not, I have accepted the truth, that is we live in a society that makes it nearly impossible for non nepotism babies to ever own a property in their life. At the current moment I have a certificate for auto repair and now im in college for mechanical engineering. I have no idea on how Im going to pay off my trade school loan or my current classes but Im hoping that I'll figure it out when I get there. I do have a job in catering but my first check only came out to around 200 dollars, with those 200 dollars I got groceries and gave my mom money, so that left me with a good 15 bucks. Currently I still have dreams of having my own place and my own car and being able to buy a bunch of fancy groceries from Whole Foods but i'm being patient and i'm also trying not to shame myself for my current placement in life. It's hard not to be embarrassed because being a 20 year old in New York shows you that materialism and where you're at in life is really important here, but the only standards I want to live for are my own.
