Nostalgia, we crave it.

This year I turn 21, which is still relatively young but also an adult. And ever since I turned 18 all the stresses that come with being an adult knocked on my door and made itself comfortable. With being 21 I’ve been introduced to new characters to put some edge on my life. Let me introduce you to my clingy friend, student loans , there’s also the resilient depression, and the fear of being eternally unstable, there’s more but at the moment that’s all I can handle being reminded of.

I know I’m not alone in this though, it’s the twenties baby! luckily there’s a whole generation of humans going through this existential crisis with me!

So what do we do when everything in the present sucks? We look into our past, we buy go gurts and rewatch episodes of gravity falls, we listen to the victorious soundtrack to remember the simpleness of grade school, sometimes we might even look at our old pictures from 5th grade and wish we could relive those days at least one more time to escape our adult problems, but sadly we can’t.

Nostalgia is something that follows us around everywhere because the present is overwhelming at times, but grow up dude, the world is ending and your crush doesn’t like you back. What are you gonna do about it? NOTHING, wait there is something, you could watch the awful reboots of our childhood shows, luckily capitalism became aware of our yearning for nostalgia so they rebooted and made reunions for all our old shows and managed to make something beautiful terrible, for example that’s so Raven getting rebooted was the biggest mistake we could’ve ever seen. The fresh prince of bel air reunion was cute but unneeded . With all these reboots happening and old songs from the early 2000’s hitting the charts again I’ve come to the consensus that we can’t get over our pasts. We are so glued to the calm of being a child that being an adult is nearly impossible, people ask me what my aspirations are all the time and yea sure working with cars would be fun but truly I do not wish to work, I do not wish to slave my life away to modern day capitalism, but I know I have to, the American dream am I right. Now with this all being said, do I have a solution?, absolutely not, I’ve been riding this one out like the rest of you, I truly don’t know what’s going on but hey you can always just listen to the victorious soundtrack.
